NUCLEON JACKET named "Outdoor best buy"

Changeable weather, fluctuating temperatures and miserable grey skies are the key features of most winter days in our climes. In order to keep up your appetite for the outdoors you need jackets that do the job in all weathers. outdoor magazine has therefore put current winter softshells to the test. Among them were our NUCLEON JACKET MEN and NUCLEON JACKET WOMEN, awarded the “outdoor best buy” ...

About the product:

The NUCLEON is designed as a winter softshell for ski and alpine tours. Thanks to elastic inserts on the back and on the interior side of the sleeves, combined with its fitted cut, it offers generous freedom of movement even for physically demanding activities. Thanks to the underarm zips, the climate comfort can be regulated and adjusted quickly and easily depending on the intensity of the activity.

Other useful features include the tightly fitting cuffs with thumbholes, which prevent the sleeves from riding up and keep the cold out. Three pockets provide the storage space you need. Despite the lightweight lining and a weight of just 660 g (size L), the NUCLEON JACKET provides reliable basic protection from the cold. In lower temperatures, it can be combined with a suitable fleece jacket.

The various product characteristics make the NUCLEON a real all-rounder for anyone who’s “At home outdoors”. This versatility also impressed the editors of the magazine. On mountain treks and fast trails alike, the NUCLEON JACKET for men and women always cut a fine figure as an “all-rounder at a budget price”. At €200, it’s one of the cheaper models to be tested.

outdoor’s verdict:

“Whether you’re skiing, trekking in the far North or hiking in your area, the NUCLEON JACKET is a strong all-rounder for year-round wear.”

What did outdoor look for?:

outdoor test candidates were subject to a variety of possible weather conditions: this included demanding hikes in the uplands in damp, cold weather, as well as skiing and snowshoeing tours in low temperatures, in order to test the weather protection as well as the freedom of movement. The products also had to prove their breathability on physically demanding trail running tours. In addition, the magazine tested the jackets in an even, realistic rain situation with the help of a shower spray, in order to test how long it took before the material let moisture through.

They were given a mark out of five for the following categories:
