• Ready for the island? Plan your very own backpacking trip to northern Europe, and include a stop in the #GOBACKPACK CAMP on Bergholmarna island in Sweden, where a host of outdoor activities, live music acts and other backpackers are waiting for you. We, the Jack Wolfskin team, will also be on site to spend a couple of memorable summer days in Sweden. Don’t worry – you won’t even need any camping equipment let alone camping know-how. We'll provide the tent, sleeping bags and on-site food and drinks for you.
  • The GOBACKPACK CAMP will be taking place on a private island, not far from Stockholm, in July. There are three different groups planned, each coming for a two-night/three-day stay. The dates are:

    - 20/07 to 22/07/2019

    - 23/07 to 25/07/2019

    - 26/07 to 28/07/2019
  • You won’t need to bring any camping equipment with you, let alone camping expertise. We hope that you will be able to gain initial experience with camping there and that you can share your knowledge with others.

  • You can win a trip for two – you and your travel buddy – by entering the competition on our website and Instagram channel between March and June.
  • Anyone over the age of 18 who is resident in the following countries may take part in the competition: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Poland and Luxembourg.
  • A winner will be drawn at random from all valid entries. We will notify the winner using the e-mail address provided. If the winner does not reply to Jack Wolfskin within seven days of being notified, they will lose their place. The prize will then be redrawn.
  • The winners will be notified by e-mail within two weeks after the end of the competition period. The names of the winners will be published at the end of this two-week period.
  • The prize comprises two places at the Jack Wolfskin GOBACKPACK CAMP 2019 for you and your travel buddy. Furthermore, Jack Wolfskin will reimburse travelling expenses incurred to/from the private island up to a total value of 800 euros, provided that copies of receipts are submitted.
Tents and sleeping bags will be provided in the camp. You are welcome to take part in various activities organised on the private island, including climbing, kayaking or different workshops.
  • Copies of receipts need to be enclosed with the Travel Expenses Sheet, which needs to be completed, signed and returned (along with the receipts) by post to Jack Wolfskin. Your personal details, including name, address as well as type of cost and bank account details must be entered in the Travel Expenses Sheet. We will make every effort to credit your account within six weeks of having sent in your Travel Expenses Sheet.
  • Simply send an email to gobackpack@jack-wolfskin.com and outline the issue in question. It will be our pleasure to assist you.
  • Check out our partners. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get a place in the camp for you and your travel buddy there.

Travelling to/from the private island

  • There are different ways to get to the island. For example, you can take public transport from Stockholm to the pier Sollenkroka brygga from where the ferry leaves. This journey takes around 1.5 hours from Stockholm. The ferry from Sollenkroka brygga will then take you to the island. Full details can be found on our website.
  • We will send you details of the ferry times in advance.
  • We will refund the costs of your outward journey to the island and your return journey home. Irrespective of the actual costs incurred, we will only reimburse travel costs up to a maximum amount of 800 euros for two persons (yourself and your travel buddy). You will need to organise travel yourself in line with the #GOBACKPACK motto. Take a look at our social media channels and website, where you will find tips on how to integrate the camp into a perfect holiday.
  • All types of transport are included, provided that you can produce proper receipts/invoices. It’s entirely up to you to decide how you get to the island. We will reimburse travel expenses incurred up to a total of 800 euros for both of you.
  • Check-in times are currently (this may change closer to the date) between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m., and check-out is no later than 10.00 a.m. The ferry leaves the island at 11.00 a.m. Please keep an eye open for any updates that are sent to you via e-mail.
  • We will be sending out more details by e-mail before the camp actually starts. Please call the telephone number which will be included in this e-mail. Please only use this number as we cannot guarantee that we will be notified in time if you contact us on other channels or by e-mail. You will also be able to see from the ferry times when the next ferry leaves Sollenkroka brygga.
  • We suggest packing everything into a backpack, as there are no paved roads on the island. But, at the end of the day, it’s entirely up to you what type of luggage you prefer to bring. We would also encourage you to travel light.
  • Please consult your doctor or take a look at your government’s foreign travel advice for Sweden for information about vaccinations. Click here for the advice of the British Federal Foreign Office.
  • You will need to be at least 18 years of age to take part in the camp.
  • Unfortunately, it is not possible to book a stay of less than three days and two nights.
  • The concert will be built into the camp’s activities and is therefore part and parcel of the camp experience. It would be a great shame if you only came for the concert. Consequently, we have to state categorically that this is not possible.
  • No, unfortunately not. You can only spend the two-night/three-day stay which you have won. Nevertheless, we would encourage you to spend further time in Sweden, and explore this beautiful country. Take a look at our travel tips; not, however, bookable through us.

The island

  • The island of Bergholmarna is situated in the archipelago to the east of Stockholm. Take a look at the map so you know where exactly the camp is taking place.
  • The island is privately owned but can be booked.
  • We will provide tents and sleeping bags. You are welcome to refer to our information on the camp for a sample checklist on what to bring, which is published on our website.
  • Two. You and your travel buddy will be sleeping in one tent. Having said this, we do reserve the right to make amendments to the sleeping situation if deemed necessary. It is not possible to sleep in a tent by yourself.
  • It goes without saying that nature can be unpredictable. That’s why we love it. It is quite possible that it may rain during your stay in the camp. That’s why we would suggest you pack some rain gear. After all, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. Best take a look at our sample outfits in the online shop.

  • There are toilets and showers on the island, which every participant in the camp is able to use.
  • A light breakfast and a more substantial dinner are included. Snacks will also be available free of charge.
  • There is nowhere to go shopping on the island. You will have to travel by ferry to the mainland if you want to go to a supermarket. But bear in mind that the ferry connections are few and far between, so we would urge you to bring everything you need with you.
  • It is always possible that there will be food left over after breakfast and dinner. We intend to make sure that as little food as possible is wasted. Consequently, we will look to reuse leftovers or encourage participants to order particular dishes from the chef on site in order to avoid waste.
  • We will urge all participants to minimise their impact on nature and, for example, produce as little waste as possible. Any waste must be deposited in the bins provided. The camp will be as environmentally friendly as possible, and we will be looking to conserve the nature around us. After all, it’s our home during the stay and we should treat it as such.
  • Yes. If you accept the T&Cs, you also consent to have photos and videos which feature yourself published. Your friends will then get to see what a great time you had on the island.
  • You will get to meet a few of the Jack Wolfskin crew on site. Apart from you and your travel buddy, there will be 28 other camp participants on the island at the same time, who are backpackers and globetrotters – just like yourself. Who knows, maybe you’ll find some more travel buddies among them?
  • We will look to note any allergies/intolerances stated on the registration form, and do our utmost to ensure that these are taken into account. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to cater for all food intolerances and dietary habits.
  • There will be staff in the camp who are medically trained to give first aid.
  • The camp only caters for people. If you are, however, blind, you can of course bring your guide dog.
  • No, there are no ATMs on the island. You will not, however, need any money during your stay at the camp.
  • We will grill food at the campfire or food will be provided. You will not need to cook for yourselves.
  • We will be providing alcohol, such as beer. You may, however, bring a small amount of your favourite alcohol with you.
  • What would a camp be like without the community feeling, enjoying the sound of silence in a tent and the fresh air of nature? Consequently, there is no other accommodation available apart from the tents and sleeping bags.
  • As the camp participants will be coming from all over Europe, we will mainly be speaking in English. There will also be possibilities to speak German with our Jack Wolfskin crew on site.
  • No cars are allowed onto the island. There is parking available, at a charge, close to the ferry terminal on the mainland. Credit cards are accepted for payment.
  • We would recommend that you stay on the island throughout your stay so that you can make the most of the camp experience.
  • Yes, there are house rules which everyone needs to observe. We will explain them on site.

Leisure programme

  • We will be offering a host of sports activities, workshops and talks.
  • Music fans will have a whale of a time at our camp because we will be hosting three top live acts for an exclusive campfire concert. Look forward to enjoying the musical sensations – Marlon Roudette, Stefanie Heinzmann and Sofia Talvik, who will all be performing live in front of our campers
