In our series “We at Jack Wolfskin”, we introduce employees from various areas of the company. Today, Megan is going to tell you about her work in the Apparel department at Jack Wolfskin – enjoy reading!

"After my studies in clothing engineering, I was already able to build up my first experiences in the fashion industry. I found new challenges regarding functional and waterproof clothing in the outdoor industry at Jack Wolfskin.

Since 2009, I have been working as a Quality Control Technician, Apparel (travelling technician) at Jack Wolfskin. In this position, I often travel to the production facilities which are located in Indonesia, China, India and Vietnam. There, I check the workmanship of products and provide support in complying with and improving quality standards.

When I am not travelling, I support my colleagues in product development at our headquarters in Idstein. This means that I create production documents, cutting and fit evaluations or approve production. Furthermore, I am also always working on improving the quality standards as part of projects in Idstein. What do I enjoy most about my job?

Working with people from different cultures. You are always required to react to and deal with different mentalities. During these trips, you get to know the country and the people, not just as a tourist, but you also get an insight into real everyday life there.

Obviously, this means that I am often on the road and am, therefore, unable to meet up with friends so regularly. However, that’s just part of the job, and it still seems to work somehow. What’s more, there are also hobbies that I can combine with my travels. For example, I can de-stress with geocaching and photography. If I need a bit of peace and quiet, you’ll find me sewing or doing crafts."
